Diese Studie fasst die mit der Gewässerentwicklung verbundenen Ökosystemleistungen von Flüssen und Auen anhand einer umfassenden Literaturrecherche zusammen. Es wurden 40 verschiedene Ökosystemleistungen identifiziert. Diese Ökosystemleistungen werden in der Regel nur erbracht, wenn den Flüssen und Auen genügend Raum zur Verfügung steht.

Die Steckbriefe beschreiben die hydromorphologischen Bedingungen für verschiedene ökologische Zustände der deutschen Fließgewässertypen.
