    GE-I-2: Heat-related mortalities

The bar chart GE-I-2 ’Heat-related mortalities’ shows the estimated number of heat-related mortalities for the period from 1992 to 2021. A particularly high number of heat-related mortalities occurred in 1994 with the highest maximum value so far amounting to some 10,000 mortalities. In the years of 2003, 2006 and latterly 2018 the heat also led to an extraordinarily high number of mortalities. There is no significant trend discernible.

    FW-I-6: Endangered spruce stands

The stacked columns chart FW-I-6 ’Endangered spruce stands’ shows – for the period of 1960 to 2021 – the proportion in per cent of areas in Germany planted with spruce trees, in which the spruce bark beetle would be able to achieve a specific number of potential reproduction cycles. In this process, a differentiation was made between the number of potential reproduction cycles between 1 and 6.

    LW-R-1: Adaptation of management rhythms

The line chart indicates – for the period of 1970 to 2021 – the mean point in time when maize cultivation begins, in terms of a calendar date from the start of the year. Although the time series proceeds with some fluctuation, it shows a significantly falling trend: To date, the latest onset of drilling occurred in 1970 on day 130 of the year – early May. In 2021 drilling began as early as day 119 of the year – end of April.

FI-I-1: Distribution of thermophilic marine species

Six curves show the percentage of catches with at least one Lusitanian fish species for different boxes in a time series from 1987 to 2013. The time series for Box C runs close to the 0 axis with a maximum value of just under 20 per cent in 2014. The curve for Box H is similar, with a maximum of around 5 per cent in 2003.

GE-I-5: Pathogen vectors – case study

The illustration GE-I-5 ’Pathogen vectors – case study’ contains a biaxial chart. A bar chart is used to indicate – for the years from 2005 to 2021 – the proportion of samplings and traps with positive finds of the Tiger Mosquito (eggs or adult mosquitoes) in the Upper Rhine Rift Valley in per cent. The annual number of samplings is shown by means of dots. The chart contains three methodological breaks marked by dotted lines.

    GE-I-4: Ragweed pollen burden

The illustration GE-I-4 ’Ragweed pollen burden’ contains a biaxial chart. For the years from 2006 to 2021 the lines show the annual mean total of ragweed pollen in pollen per cubic metre air. A differentiation is made between the central, northern, eastern, southern and western regions. In addition, the mean pollen total across all regions is illustrated. A particularly high ragweed pollen burden occurred in 2014 in the northern, eastern and central regions.
