More than beautiful: Announcing the German Federal Ecodesign Award 2016

The Federal Environment Ministry and the UBA are announcing the German Federal Ecodesign Award for the fifth time. The Award recognises products, services and concepts that distinguish themselves both ecologically and aesthetically. The motto More than Beautiful governs this year's award under which businesses, design agencies, start-ups and students may make their entries until 11 April.

Old diesel vehicles must be phased out of city centres

Traffic is the main source of NO2 pollution in city centres.

The German Environment Agency (UBA) is recommending a fundamental reorientation of transport policy, and for cities in particular. UBA’s President, Ms Maria Krautzberger, reiterated this recommendation upon publication of this year’s Schwerpunkte (What Matters) report, based on the still excessively high levels of nitrogen dioxide emitted mainly by diesel vehicles.
