2025-11-07 (resolved) BESMAX, sporadic abort on Windows 11
Problem:
2025-11-07
Applies to:
BESMAX 1.2
Title:
BESMAX, sporadic abort on Windows 11
Description:
Under Windows 11, BESMAX crashes sporadically when using multi-threading. A log file (hs_err_pid<...>.log) is then output by the JAVA Virtual Machine (JVM) in the root folder. This effect has not been observed on Windows 10 or Linux. It appears to be related to overly aggressive optimization of the JVM supplied with the program package during execution (just-in-time compilation) of BESMAX.
Workaround:
When running BESMAX, disable multi-threading (batch call with the option --num-threads=0) or specify the additional option -XX:TieredStopAtLevel=1 in the batch call (less aggressive optimization with a slight loss of speed).
Resolved:
2025-11-26 (version 1.3.0, batch call extended)
