Heat waves are extreme weather phenomena that can have an impact on health. They are especially hazardous to the health of infants, toddlers and the elderly in need of care. It is assumed that storms, hurricane and floods will also have an effect on health, either directly or as a result of stress. Impaired drinking water and supply has an indirect health impact.
The Federal Environment Agency decided to conduct a special GerES on children because they must be considered as a risk group for adverse health effects caused by environmental factors
Building products (e.g. paints, varnishes, wood preservatives, woodworking materials, flooring and adhesives, wall and ceiling panelling, sealing materials, plaster, bricks, and cement) contain a great many substances that are released into indoor air, soil, or groundwater. They include organic or inorganic substances which may harm the environment or human health.
Chemicals, mould or noise – people are exposed every day to potentially harmful influences from the environment. In the German Environmental Survey, the Federal Environment Agency is investigating the exposure of the population to pollutants and other environmental effects such as noise. It is thereby contributing to the protection of people and the environment.
