Information Paper on the analysis of the German Voluntary Offsetting market 2021

This information paper presents the results of a comprehensive analysis of the German market for voluntary offsetting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the years 2017 to 2020. The analysis serves to create a basis for assessing the potential and thus for the development of incentive structures and framework conditions for national climate protection projects in Germany. Past market surveys on the German offsetting market show a constantly increasing interest in, and supply of, carbon offsetting services. The 2021 market survey confirms this trend, provides an up-to-date picture of the supply and demand-side and offers additional insights, on how to approach a double claim of emission reduction.
