In Deutschland und in fast allen Industrieländern finden sich mittlerweile Medikamentenwirkstoffe in nahezu allen Gewässern und vereinzelt auch im Trinkwasser. Auch wenn die Konzentrationen in der Regel sehr gering sind, lassen sich erste Anzeichen für Auswirkungen auf Wasserlebewesen nachweisen. Akute Folgen für die menschliche Gesundheit sind bisher nicht erwiesen.

Currently there are no standard methods for studies on the degradation behaviour of substances in manure. Such methods are of great importance for the authorisation process for biocides and veterinary medicinal products. Presently, information on the variability of the composition of different types of manure with regard to species and production type is not available.

In assessing the impact of biocides on the environment, specific risk mitigation measures (RMM) may be required to reduce the risks for the environment.

Fische aus der Mulde und der Elbe sind nur noch geringfügig mit Lindan (Gamma-Hexachlorcyclohexan/HCH) und seinen Nebenprodukten aus der Herstellung belastet. Dies ergaben die jährlich durchgeführten Messungen der vom Umweltbundesamt (UBA) betriebenen Umweltprobenbank des Bundes.

This technical protocol describes a laboratory test method to evaluate the transformation of chemicals in liquid bovine and pig manures under anaerobic conditions and is primarily designed for veterinary medicinal products (VMP) and biocides.

Within the current authorization procedure "TNsG for data requirements for active substances and biocidal products (2000)", biocides applied for disinfection purposes or insect control in animal houses are to be studied on ultimate biodegradability underanaerobic conditions.

Bisphenol A is found in many everyday products. The largest portion of manufactured bisphenol A is converted into stable plastics (polycarbonate and epoxy resins). Under certain conditions, the chemical can be released from consumer products – from can coatings, for instance – and enter the human body by way of food or through the skin, from thermal paper for example.

This research project realised a universal mathematical simulation for the entry of pharmaceutical active substance from surface water into groundwater via bank filtration. This information is required for the environmental risk assessment (ERA) within a marketing authorisation procedure of medicinal products for human use.
