Since 2016, there are new legal requirements for the assessment for nutrients and substances of the waters in Germany. New assessment procedures for hydromorphology were developed. These assessment instruments are described in the brochure "Waters in Germany: Status and Assessment". The results of the assessment clarify the still open problems in water protection.

Reliable data regarding the amounts of leisure boasts and number of berths in marinas are needed for the EU biocidal products regulation of antifouling products. Since for Germany such data are lacking, a national survey was initiated by the German Federal Environmental Agency.

Im Vorhaben „Ökologische Rohstoffverfügbarkeit“ (ÖkoRess I) wurden Methoden zur Bewertung der Umweltgefährdungspotenziale bei der Rohstoffgewinnung entwickelt. Dazu wurde zunächst in einem iterativen Prozess anhand von 40 Fallbeispielen ein standortbezogenes Bewertungsmodell entwickelt und getestet.

Der Diskurs darüber ist von Machtbeziehungen sowie widerstreitenden Perspektiven und Interpretationen geprägt. Diese bestimmen in komplexer Weise, wie Umweltprobleme gesellschaftlich verstanden und politisch adressiert werden.

The joint UBA-GIZ brochure „Reverse Innovation – Rethinking Urban Transport through Global Learning“ looks into the potential of “reverse innovation” in the urban transport sector. Ten interesting innovations from developing- and emerging countries were selected, that offer relevant impulses for cities and towns in Germany.

Der Runde Tisch Meeresmüll wurde am 18. März 2016 durch die Bundesumweltministerin, den niedersächsischen Umweltminister und die Präsidentin des Umweltbundesamtes ins Leben gerufen. Der Runde Tisch soll die nationalen Maßnahmen Deutschlands gegen Meeresmüll koordinieren und ihre Umsetzung unterstützen.

In the National Implementation Plan, Germany describes the measures taken to implement the obligations under the Stockholm Convention.

Mit dem Nationalen Umsetzungsplan beschreibt Deutschland die Maßnahmen, die zur Umsetzung der Verpflichtungen des Stockholmer Übereinkommens ergriffen wurden. Dies beinhaltet sowohl die rechtlichen Grundlagen auf nationaler und europäischer Ebene wie auch die getroffenen Maßnahmen.

Im Projekt wurde ein Konzept (genannt GERDA = GEobased Runoff, Erosion, and Drainage risk Assessment for Germany) entwickelt, dass der qualifizierten Abschätzung von Einträgen von Pflanzenschutzmitteln über Runoff und Drainage in Oberflächengewässer dient.
