Small initial measure with large effect

Close-up of a small water body. In the water there is a short trunk acting as a groyne. The water is deepened around the area of the trunk. The banks are covered with dried plant parts.

Initiated by a trunk acting as a groyne, the water has excavated a scour and deposited a gravel bank: two habitats for fish and benthic invertebrates.
