Study tour for Russian experts on management of waste of electrical and electronic equipment

Within the project a delegation of 14 waste management experts from Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus were invited to Germany. During the 4-day study-tour workshops and field trips were organized to explain the ways of collection and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) as well as used batteries in Germany. The intention of the study tour was to give the invited experts an understanding of the German practice of inspection by the authorities and the technologies to collect and recycle WEEE and used batteries. Particular attention has been paid to explain the disposal paths of waste with specific hazardous properties like refrigeration units, mercury-containing gas discharge lamps or cathode ray tubes.
