The assessment of the environmental impact of human and veterinary medicinal products has been an integral part of the authorisation process for many years. In Germany, this has been a legal requirement since 1998. The UBA is responsible for conducting the environmental risk assessment.

In this 4th Summer School on Sustainable Pharmacy special attention will be given to areas not taught in the regular study program. These are e.g. drug quality and the role of excipients, environmental, regulatory and legal aspects as well as pharmacoepidemiology and global aspects of sustainable pharmacy, like production outside of Europe and health systems of sub-Sahara Africa.
