Veterinary Medicinal Products in Manures and Manured Soils:Development of a Technical Protocol for Laboratory Tests

After the administration of veterinary medicinal products (VMP) in livestock husbandry, parent compounds and metabolites are excreted by production animals via urine and feces. In loose housing stables with slatted floors, the excrements are transferred to the manure aboveground silos or underground pits.

Greenhouse gas burden sharing within the European Union

In 1997, at the United Nations conference on climate change hosted in Kyoto, Japan, the European Union committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 8 per cent in the period from 2008 to 2012, with 1990 as baseline. The EU members agreed to reduce their emissions jointly under consideration of their different national circumstances in a burden sharing agreement.

Implementation of the European Water Framework Directive in Bulgaria

The German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Nuclear Safety has given advisory assistance to the Republic of Bulgaria preparing the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD). The advice was given in the context of the EU-Pharesupport programme („Phare-Twinning-Projects“) during a two-year german-bulgarian twinning- project.
