A revised Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for 2014 - 2020 was agreed between the EU Commission, the Agriculture Council and the European Parliament in late June 2013. While the reform essentially follows Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Cioloș proposed agenda, the outcome became watered down in the course of negotiations.
Stakeholder Participation in Adaptation to Climate Change
The report concludes with recommendations for planning and conducting stakeholder participation processes and suggests suitable designs depending on the pursued objectives.
Identification of potential PBT/vPvB-Substances by QSAR methods
The identification and the assessment of potential PBT/vPvB substances are key tasks of the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) under the REACH regulation. Potential PBT/vPvB substances can for example be identified using quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs). For a definitive assessment, experimental data are required.
Sustainable use of Global Land and Biomass Resources
Before humankind discovered oil, coal, natural gas and uranium and learnt how to put them to use, biomass covered all of the respective needs. Since time immemorial, it has provided food, feed and fodder, fuel, construction materials, and the raw materials
Nanotechnology – Risks related to Nanomaterials for Humans and the Environment (2007 - 2011)
In 2007 the German supreme federal authorities the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA), the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) issued a joint research strategy known as ”Nanotechnology: Health and Environmental Risks of Nanomaterials”, lead-managed by BAuA.

Estimation of costs of (behavioural) emission mitigation measures and instruments including estimation of utility loss
This report focuses on the estimation of the costs of (behavioural, non-technical) emission mitigation measures and instruments, including one mitigation option from the agricultural sector, one for aerosol sprays and several from the transport sector.
A high resolution European emission data base for the year 2005
A transparent and consistent emission inventory is a prerequisite for (predictive) modelling of air quality. TNO has been asked to prepare a European emission inventory to support UBA in its ambitions to develop strategies to reduce the particulate matter
exposure of the German Population.
Gridded European emission data for the projection years 2010, 2015 and 2020
Teilbericht zum F&E-Vorhaben „Strategien zur Verminderung der Feinstaubbelastung - PAREST“
In the UBA PAREST project it was agreed that the national emissions for projection years should be in line with the EC environmental objectives for the year 2020.
Financing Sustainable Transport in Africa
In order to explain how future policies in transport should be formulated, it is necessary to understand that sustainability in transport does not only imply transport infrastructure, but can be embedded in a broader policy approach. Financing of infrastructure, investments in public and non-motorised transport, institutional development and road maintenance all require significant funding.
Follow-up to the training session on evaluation of safety reports and joint inspection for Croatia, Serbia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
The aim of the Assistance Programme and its Strategic Approach is to enhance countries’ efforts in implementing the UNECE Industrial Accidents Convention, and in particular towards the establishment of the necessary policies in the six priority areas of work which include: (a) identification of hazardous activities; (b) notification of hazardous activities; (c) prevention; (d) preparedness; (e)
