Pharmaceutical substances in the environment are a growing concern. The UBA provides freely accessible, scientifically reviewed teaching materials for medical and pharmaceutical educators. With a basic slide set and accompanying texts, this topic can be taught in a comprehensive and practice-oriented manner, even within tight curricula.

Pharmaceutical substances in the environment are becoming an increasingly prominent topic, not only in politics and the media but also in pharmaceutical and medical education. However, educators often face the challenge of limited time within tightly structured training and study programmes, making it difficult to thoroughly prepare and present the topic. This is where the UBA steps in, providing a basic slide set and accompanying texts for educators in training, continuing education, and academic studies. These freely available, editable, and scientifically reviewed materials support the effective teaching of this important issue.

The basic slide set is designed for medical and pharmaceutical educators. It provides a general introduction to the topic and presents subject-specific solutions along the pharmaceutical life cycle, extending into clinical practice and everyday pharmacy operations.

Specifically, the slide set covers a broad range of topics, starting with societal aspects of medicines, followed by pathways of pharmaceutical entry into the environment, their occurrence and effects, and concluding with measures to reduce environmental contamination and a discussion introduction.

The aim is to reduce the time required for educators by providing accompanying texts that explain each slide and offer further links for deeper exploration of the topic. Users are free to modify the slides according to their specific application and audience, as long as the source is cited. Content can be adapted, removed, or expanded as needed.
