In order to test, for example, the effect of certain substances on aquatic communities, the mesocosms has to be adequately designed and has to be rich in structure providing a wide variety of habitats for different species. In order to meet these requirements, sand and mud (soft sediment) and selected aquatic plants and organisms are introduced into the stream and pond mesocosms. read more
The main objectives of the test phase (calibration phase) were to ensure that the plant’s basic functions were working properly, as well as to define key parameters.
