The German Adaptation Strategy (DAS) identifies 15 central fields of action for climate adaptation. The fields of action are affected very differently by the impacts of climate change and each requires specific adaptation measures. How the fields of action are affected by climate change and which measures are suitable for adaptation is compiled on the KomPass web pages Climate Impacts Germany and Regional and sectoral adaptation. These pages have now been updated.
The update was based on the Climate Impact and Risk Analysis 2021 for Germany. This provides information on which climate change impacts are associated with particular risks for Germany, which adaptation options exist and where there is a particularly urgent need for action. It is the most comprehensive analysis of the risks and impacts of climate change in Germany. For 102 climate impacts in the different fields of action, the level of climate risk was assessed and adaptation options were named. The most important climate impacts in the fields of action are described under Climate Impacts Germany, and the corresponding adaptation options are summarised under Regional and sectoral adaptation.
Where data on climate impacts and adaptation measures are collected in the monitoring of the DAS, these are linked in the text. The indicators and measured data show which changes due to climate change can already be observed in Germany today and which countermeasures are already taking effect. In addition, central further information and appropriate Climate Preparedness Services of the German Climate Preparedness Portal are provided. All texts are available in German and English.
