The aim of the project is to inform about pastoralism and its potential for the conservation of biodiversity in the Carpathian region and to build capacity to realise this potential by facilitating approaches and (institutional) actors of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Because of the socio-economic and cultural aspects of pastoralism, the project facilitates cross-sectoral and transdisciplinary approaches. Policies that the project aims to help implement include the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the UNECE Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development, the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) 2026.
