Climate navigator

In conjunction with a range of partner organisations, the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) has developed the climate navigator. The climate navigator is a national web portal with pilot function for climate and environmental information in Germany. This portal collates and provides access to the climate knowledge available in academia, along with information on adaptation options and the relevant organisations and institutions.

The objective of the climate navigator is to provide an overview of climate-related research and of climate change and climate adaptation initiatives and to improve knowledge transfer between academia and society. The web platform is primarily aimed at users from policymaking and business who are faced with climate change issues. It can also benefit the media, educational institutions and interested laymen.
All current climate models and projections as well the backgrounds to the emission scenarios are described in dossiers: See dossiers on "Greenhouse effect and emission scenarios" and "Global climate modelling".

The effects of extreme events and changes in them due to climate change are described in an "Extreme events" dossier.
The objective of the climate navigator is to provide climate change information for analysis of potential effects on the one hand, and to link relevant institutions and networks who are involved in climate effects on the other.
Knowledge on the issue of vulnerability and relevant institutions and networks is provided.
