High level panel discussion: Circular Economy
German Environment Agency (UBA) together with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) host a joint discussion of experts from science, politics and intergovernmental organizations in Brussels on 26 october 2023. What might a circular world economy look like that meets the high expectation of living and doing business equitably within planetary boundaries?
This event is part of a series of events. UBA and GIZ are focusing on questions where environmental policy and development cooperation complement each other.
A high level of ambition with regard to the EU's climate and sustainability goals can only be achieved if low- and middle-income countries are included in the consideration of respective measures.
On the one hand, changes in the economic practices in high-income countries can have an impact on the economic, social and environmental situation in poorer regions of the world.
On the other hand, the economic growth needed to reduce poverty can itself be a driver of climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution - if the course is not set now in the direction of circularity.
The perspective of low- and middle-income countries therefore plays a special role in this series.
Target group:
- International decision-makers and experts
- Representatives from embassies
- MEPs, EC, other EU-Institutions, organizations and think-tanks
- UN-related institutions (UNEP, UNIDO, GACERE)
