Breuer‘s XXL chair moves to UBA | Umweltbundesamt

The super-sized Breuer chair is now moving on to the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) at Wörlitzer Platz. The chair, which measures 4.3 metres high, 2.3 metres wide and 2.5 metres in depth will be set up by the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (Technisches Hilfswerk - THW) as part of an exercise. “Since its relocation from the Spree to the Mulde, the Federal Environment Agency has been a reliable partner to the city of Dessau and the local cultural institutions”, said Dr. Thomas Holzmann, Vice-President of the Federal Environment Agency, as the Breuer chair was erected at its new location. “It was therefore a matter of course for us to comply with the request from the  Bauhaus Foundation to provide a temporary home for Marcel Breuer’s super-sized children’s chair”, said Holzmann.  

The deputy director of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, Regina Bittner, will officially hand over “ti 3a“ to Vice-President Thomas Holzmann at 13:00. “ti 3a“ will be on exhibit in the atrium of the Federal Environment Agency until 31 October. It was reconstructed on a scale of 1:7 in the Rauch-Möbelwerke apprenticeship workshop.
